HEIT’s winning entry nominated the Pillswood project in Hull, which is one of the largest BESS in Europe by MWh at 196 MWh (98 MW). Pillswood has also recently won the “Grid-scale Standalone Energy Storage Project of the Year” award at the Energy Storage Awards as well as “Best Renewable Energy Project in the Humber Area” at the Humber Renewables Awards.
Norman Crighton, Chairman of HEIT, commented:
“We are delighted to win the Utility Scale Storage Project of the Year award at the Solar & Storage Live Awards. Our multi-award winning Pillswood project is at the forefront of powering a sustainable future and has been one of the best performing BESS in Great Britain during 2023.
“I would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners.”
The award was collected on behalf of HEIT by Peter Kavanagh (CEO) and Gary Camplejohn (Technical Director) of Harmony Energy Limited (the developer and project delivery manager).
On accepting the award, Peter said:
“We are honoured to be recognised for our contributions to the renewable energy storage sector. This award inspires us to continue our mission to push the boundaries of what’s possible in renewable energy.”
The Solar & Storage Live Awards was hosted by lead presenter for Channel 4 News, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and took place at the VOX Resorts World in Birmingham on 17 October 2023. The awards recognise the quality and excellence in the solar and wider energy industry.
