The award-winning Pillswood BESS facility in Cottingham – Europe’s largest BESS – received recognition for its contribution to helping accelerate the change towards a more sustainable energy system. It features Tesla technology and can power 300,000 homes for two hours.
The event sponsored by RWE, Orsted and Siemens Gamesa amongst others crowned individuals, businesses and organisations playing their part in a sector reshaping the regional economy.
Harmony Energy CEO, Peter Kavanagh, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award.
It means an awful lot. Pillswood is eight years in the making and the biggest battery storage facility in the whole of Europe.
“Congratulations to our team for all their invaluable input and hard work. Thank you also to Tesla and other contractors for making this happen alongside our investors.”
