Nearly 900 runners took part last year, making it one of the event’s most successful years to date. Building on that momentum, this year’s race will once again take participants through the picturesque hills of Harrogate, with the start and finish at the Harrogate Sports and Fitness Centre.
The 10k and Junior Fun Run follow an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road, with the remainder on good footpaths.
Event organisers – local running club Harrogate Harriers – are busy preparing for the highly anticipated event, with dozens of volunteers and partners ensuring it is welcoming to runners of all levels, from beginners to seasoned club athletes.
The event is sponsored by Harmony Energy, a Knaresborough-based renewable energy developer that builds, owns and operates renewable energy facilities across the UK, France, Poland, Germany, Italy and New Zealand.
Dan Atkinson, Race Director for the event, said: “With a boom in social running, the glorious backdrop of the Crimple Valley, first rate event village with party atmosphere and the long standing status of the Harriers amongst the Northern running community, Harrogate Harriers and Harmony Energy are ideally placed to deliver a first rate event to bring out the best in every type of runner.”
Peter Kavanagh, CEO of Harmony Energy, said: “We’re proud to support this fantastic local event for the fourth year running. It’s been amazing to see it grow, with more runners taking part each year. We’re looking forward to another brilliant race in June and wish all participants the best of luck.”
Entry is £21 (£19 for UKA-affiliated runners), with just £3 for the Kids Fun Run. For full details and to sign up for the event, please visit the Race Best course page.
