A celebrated event still going strong after 30+ years, the Burton Leonard 10k has become a firm favourite on the Yorkshire sporting calendar, drawing runners and spectators from across the region year after year. The course itself is stunning, an undulating multi-terrain route winding through the Mountgarret Estate, starting and finishing in the heart of the village, with rolling countryside views that almost make you forget you’re racing.
The Junior 2K keeps the whole family involved too, with four age categories welcoming children from school years 2 to 11, whatever their ability or pace.
Entry is £18 for UKA affiliated runners, £20 for unaffiliated, and £9 for the Junior Race. All proceeds go directly back into the community, supporting Burton Leonard Primary School (which also serves as Race HQ on the day), local sports initiatives, and the annual village feast.
Pippa Greenwood, Sustainability Lead at Harmony Energy, said: “Events like this are a perfect example of communities coming together for a positive cause. At Harmony Energy, sustainability isn’t just about clean homegrown energy, it’s about investing in the places and people around us, and Burton Leonard is a brilliant example of that in action.”
Ben Norman, Race Director, said: “Harmony Energy’s generous contributions and support to the Burton Leonard 10k are invaluable and hugely appreciated! It enables us to focus on organising the best possible event experience and secures a race which has been part of our community for over 30 years.”
